Grüß Gott from Munich!
While we hadn't originally planned to spend much more than 3 hours in Munich, Delta had other ideas. As Yeung already filled you all in, we saw both of our connecting planes take off (with Mom and Dad on them) as we landed. This made for some exciting rushing to gates and creative rerouting. In the end, a very friendly ticket agent with TUIFly (our new favorite airline) booked us in a hotel in Munich, and we decided to make the best of our weekend destination. Not only did Hotel Movenpick have amazing buffet breakfast every morning, but we tasted enough sausages to last us awhile, and our share of knodels (large bread or potato dumplings). A walk around the English Gardens in downtown and some kaiserschmarren (twice fried pancakes) with fresh strawberries helped us get over our jetlag. We also made a visit to Dachau, which was very sobering.
